After several years of assisting a premier dessert caterer in upstate New York, Joanne Glasgow moved to South Florida knowing that the cupcake craze sweeping the nation had not yet reached Naples, which prides itself on being progressive, upscale, and in tune with the latest trends. To test the market, Simply Cupcakes was formed and introduced at the Third Street Farmer's Market in 2006. The response was immediate and overwhelming. Although Simply Cupcakes offered a variety of flavors, the Naples Key Lime cupcake made with homemade key lime curd soon became the "signature cupcake."


Week after week, repeat customers would return raving about the cupcakes they had tasted the week before. Demand for special orders increased, and Simply Cupcakes were served at numerous upscale parties and fundraisers. Born in São Paulo - Brazil, graduated in Graphic Design, since she was a little girl, Vanessa Barbieri has had a love for baking that was first inspired by her mother. Now, more than thirty years later, Vanessa is a cake designer and the founder of cakes by Vanessa.

A graduate of Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado College (Brazil), Vanessa began her career in Graphic Design in 1996.

In August 2005, after doing her own wedding cake, Vanessa began selling her personalized, exclusive and fun cakes to friends and friends of friends.
Soon her love for baking led her to leave her job as Graphic Designer to pursue her dream.
